During challenging and difficult times, leaders keep focus on the opportunities that lie ahead not paralyzed by a current assault or the natural anxiety that comes with it. The opposition, even enemies, will seek to interrupt, destabilize, or take over as they look for vulnerabilities to exploit. From a straight forward legislative policy idea to another’s sovereignty, leaders must understand how to appropriately use the shield and sword to advance their cause, lest the aggressors in society feed off the tension within. There’s too much at stake to be fearful or cynical and withdraw. We must rally around one another in common cause.
