Study Group with Rohit Chopra: Lessons from the Failure of Silicon Valley Bank

On March 10, 2023, Silicon Valley Bank was closed by regulators in one of the fastest bank runs in history. Other large banks, including Signature Bank and First Republic Bank, also failed.

Former Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Rohit Chopra served as one of five members of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) during these bank failures. Chopra will host a discussion with Martin J. Gruenberg, who served as Chairman of the FDIC.

On the third anniversary of Silicon Valley Bank's collapse, we will discuss the 2023 failures, the government's response, lessons from the crisis, and what it reveals about financial markets and policy.

GUEST: Martin J. Gruenberg, Former Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

AUDIENCE: These conversations are open to members of the Harvard community. Please RSVP with a valid Harvard email address.
