As frontline social-problem-solvers, mayors are often looking for new approaches to tackling issues like homelessness, crime, poverty, and the impact of climate change. Mayor Parker (D) of Philadelphia, PA, and Mayor Rickenmann (R) of Charleston, SC, will reflect on today’s policy and management challenges in cities. They will also discuss how universities can help local governments develop, test, and implement solutions.
Professor Jorrit de Jong, Director of the Harvard-wide Bloomberg Center for Cities, will moderate the conversation and audience Q&A. This event is part of the Center’s inaugural international Urban Research Conference Evidence for Problem Solving.
