WAPPP Seminar: Where Equity and Business Converge: Building Equitable Hiring Solutions Photo

“The future of hiring is equitable.” That’s the phrase that appeared before thousands of the world’s top hiring professionals in New York City during Future Works 2022, Indeed’s annual global conference. That year, Rachel Rosenberg’s team at Indeed launched several new offerings for industry professionals – both those looking to advance their DEI goals and those simply looking to improve their talent pipelines.

As a behavioral scientist, and co-founder of the “Equity” team, Rachel’s role was to reduce bias in hiring. Her team built technology to get more job seekers who face significant barriers hired. In this talk, Rachel will outline a few interventions designed by Indeed, describe some of the challenges to equitable hiring, and offer some ideas for the future.

Rachel Rosenberg is a behavioral scientist, passionate about rigorous design for social impact. In her role at Indeed, she co-founded the Equitable Hiring Solutions team, a 2-year-long effort to build solutions that change the way businesses hire for good. Currently, she manages a team of designers focused on enhancing the end-to-end interviewing process. She started Indeed’s first behavioral science practice focused on reducing bias in hiring to help all people find meaningful work.

Prior to Indeed, Rachel led a portfolio of innovative pilots with local governments applying behavioral science and machine learning to reduce poverty and inequality with ideas42. Rachel holds a B.A. in International Relations & Economics from Stanford University and an M.A. in Development Economics & Human Security from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
