"Women's Empowerment in the Face of Regression and Resilience: A Close Look at Afghanistan" with Ambassador Adela Raz Photo

This spring CID will be breaking down gender equity in the development context through events, articles, and podcasts in the lead-up to the 2024 Global Empowerment Meeting GEM24: Breaking Barriers for Women and Girls.

Our Road to GEM24 event series continues with Ambassador Adela Raz, the last Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United States from 2021-2022, the first woman to serve as Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations, and the current Director of the Afghanistan Policy Lab at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. Join us to hear Amb. Raz speak about her extraordinary career and current work with the Afghanistan Policy Lab. This event is co-sponsored by the Women and Public Policy Program and Women in Defense, Diplomacy, and Development at Harvard Kennedy School.

Harvard students are invited to register for an in-person student roundtable with Amb. Raz from 1:15-2:15PM in the Perkins Conference Room (R-429). She will share reflections on her experience and answer student questions. Registration is required at this link.
