Through a series of longitudinal studies, Professor Randall Kekoa Akee looked at the impact of a Tribal casino’s universal basic income (UBI) payments to their tribe members.

Over the course of a child’s lifetime, researchers found that those raised in a household with higher income saw better outcomes on a variety of measures, including the chances of finishing high school, mental health, and voting behavior.

In this video, Professor Akee discusses the basics of UBI, what his review of the data found, and common arguments against this program.
