Library Researcher Access and Borrowing Policy

The Harvard Kennedy School Library’s mission is to serve the research, teaching, and learning needs of HKS students, faculty, staff, alumni and the greater Harvard community.

Visitors without an active affiliation to HKS or Harvard will need to provide a photo ID and register at the Library Services Desk.

To make your visit productive, please contact Library & Knowledge Services in advance of your visit so we can confirm that the material you are interested in finding is actually at the library.  Other Harvard University libraries may have different access policies. Additionally, not all material held by the library collections is held on-site and may need to be recalled. Due to this, the material you are looking for may not be available or may take some time to be made available.  The library staff can provide guidance, in advance of your visit, to best support your research needs.
