Collective Action for Real Impact
Now in its 17th year, Harvard CID's GEM conference event brings together leaders, thinkers, and doers from academia, development, government, business, civil society, and philanthropy. For two days, change-makers convene in person at Harvard's Kennedy School and online to explore significant issues and incubate new research ideas that could revolutionize development paradigms.
Past GEM conferences have focused on a wide range of topics from "Healing in an Unequal World" to "Catalyzing AI for Inclusive Change."
GEM Incubation Fund
The GEM Incubation Fund supports emerging research that seeks to address the pressing development challenges of our time. Each year, the fund will support research proposals relevant to the changing key theme highlighted at the Harvard Center for International Development’s (CID) annual Global Empowerment Meeting (GEM) that show clear potential to advance knowledge and generate innovations in practice with direct impact in developing economies.
GEM Foundations
GEM Foundations brings together leading philanthropic foundations and philanthropists to:
- reflect on opportunities to support innovations in international development
- discuss data trends on global generosity
- build a community between philanthropy and academia
