As part of the Dean’s Office, the Executive Dean works closely with the Dean and Academic Deans to develop the mission and strategic direction of the school, as well as drive the implementation of the strategy. He is also responsible for the management and oversight of the business functions and operations of the School, which include Degree Programs, Executive Education, the Office of Financial Services, Information Technology, Research Administration, Human Resources and the Office of Facilities Management. In addition to his administrative duties, Dean Haigh also serves as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, where he works alongside Center Director Lawrence H. Summers.
John Haigh joined HKS as Executive Dean in 2005, and was appointed Co-Director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government in 2011. Prior to joining HKS he was at AT&T and AT&T Wireless, where he held a variety of strategy and leadership positions. Prior to joining AT&T Haigh worked at Mercer Management Consulting, where he was a partner and consultant for 13 years. His work focused on strategic and operating issues in multiple industries -- telecommunications, transportation, energy and the environment. He also worked at Resources for the Future prior to attending graduate school, focusing on energy and environmental issues.
Dean Haigh holds a BA from Grinnell College, where he was the President’s Medalist and Phi Beta Kappa, and a Master in Public Policy (MPP) from Harvard Kennedy School.
