Carr Talk and Coffee

Interested in the Carr Center? Want to know more about what’s going on day-to-day? Please stop by our bi-monthly Carr Talk and Coffee meeting, an informal gatheringwhere we can check in, talk about what’s happening in various human rights arenas around campus, and catch up! All are welcome. Coffee and donuts provided! Each week, brief introuductions/announcments are followed by a short presentation. This week's presenter, Carr Center Fellow Artyom Geghamyan, discussing "Transitional Justice and The European Court of Human Rights." In this session of “Carr Talk,” Artyom Geghamyan, a Carr Center Fellow, will present on the idea of transitional justice, with a focus on the role of the European Court of Human Rights. He will examine specific examples of the cases that had a wider impact on countries in transition, such as freedom of religion and forced labor, expropriation, property rights, and the prohibition of symbols of fascism and communism. He will then give a comparative perspective on the inter-American system of human rights and the open the floor for Q&As. Artyom Geghamyan is a fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. His research focuses on transitional justice issues in Eastern Europe and former soviet socialist republics.
