Communication Strategies to Support Development and Projects, a Digital Communications Workshop with Jamil Simon, President,

While frequently missing in development projects, a well-designed and multi-faceted communications strategy can greatly enhance effectiveness.  This session will present principles of creating and implementing multimedia communication programs, illustrated with examples drawn from Jamil Simon’s work in Africa and his current work in Haiti.  Jamil Simon is President of Spectrum Media, an independent producer of educational programs and documentaries.  As communications strategist for many development agencies, he has designed and helped to implement innovative communications and outreach programs, in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Far East. He is currently directing a major communications project in Haiti.  Before the workshop, participants may wish to review the slide shows describing the projects at: www.SpectrumMedia-Boston.com
Charles Mann, following his retirement from a career as a development economist with the Harvard Institute for International Development and The Rockefeller Foundation, founded the Development Communications Workshop, a collaboration with filmmakers to help students use video effectively for development and to produce documentaries about development issues. www.DevComWorkshop.org
