Crossing the 2014 Climate Divide: Scientists, Skeptics & the Media

A Seminar and Discussion with: Suzanne Goldenberg, U.S. Environment Correspondent, The Guardian Dr. Naomi Oreskes, Professor of History of Science, Harvard University, and author of Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco to Global Warming Discussant: Dr. Peter Frumhoff, Director of Science & Policy, Union of Concerned Scientists, and Chief Scientist, UCS Climate Campaign Moderator: Cristine Russell, Science Journalist, ENRP Senior Fellow & Adjunct Lecturer, HKS The science is clear: drastic global climate change due to human activities threatens our planet. Yet, a well-funded international campaign continues to deny the scientific consensus, foment public doubt and oppose action. The media—especially social media—have helped fuel false controversy and climate skepticism. How can climate change communication be improved? Refreshments will be served. Open to the public, but admittance will be on a first come–first served basis.
