The View from the Audience: Fighting Our Own Prejudices A Workshop with Lisa Coleman;

Harvard University Chief Diversity Officer and Special Assistant to the President Navigating Identity in Public Speaking Workshop Series 6-7:30PM Wednesday, February 26, 2014 Cason Room, Taubman 102 This workshop aims to address the implicit and explicit biases that we as audience members experience, and how to mitigate them. We will consider how knowledge of biases may mitigate their effects, and other mechanisms to prevent judgment. This workshop will focus on what informational content we as audience members may be missing because of our judgments or distractions, and strategies to focus on content over presentation. Our aim throughout is for these workshops to focus on concrete strategies for dealing with biases rather than on the root causes of those biases.
