Undoing Racism: A Workshop in Leading Anti-Racist Institutions

UNDOING RACISM: A WORKSHOP IN LEADING ANTI-RACIST INSTITUTIONS January 25-26 This 2-day workshop introduces participants to the foundations of institutional racism and provides tools for addressing it. Students will learn to apply a framework for analyzing social institutions (rather than characteristics of individuals and groups) and learn to improve institutional responses and accountability to different racial groups. Trainers for the workshop will come from the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, a community-based organization with more than twenty years experience organizing against racism to build a multi-cultural, anti-racist movement for social change. This student-initiated workshop is sponsored by: Harvard Kennedy School Office for Student Diversity and Inclusion The Center for Public Leadership Student Advisory Board The Harvard Graduate School of Education Racial Equity Alliance The workshop will be held in the NYE A/B during the weekend prior to Spring semester: Saturday, January 25 (9 am – 5 pm) Sunday, January 26 (9 am – 4 pm) Participants must be able to attend BOTH days.
