Abstract
This report is a literature review and critical analysis of factors contributing to ongoing underachievement of boys and young men of color in the US. It traces developmental issues beginning in early childhood and extending through high school and establishes that multiple reinforcing factors result in what the report calls the "predicament" from which escape with out assistance can be nearly impossible. The report identifies evidence-based responses that together can make an important difference in helping these young males escape the predicament.
