Abstract

The article discusses the need for positive attitudes toward diversity in education. The author notes that discussion and terminology regarding educational diversity focuses on reducing negative attitudes through tolerance rather than promoting allophilia. He suggests it isn't sufficient that prejudice be eliminated in education but comments that allophilia can be promoted through encouraging affection, engagement, kinship, enthusiasm and a sense of comfort between students.
