Abstract
The article discusses political polarization in relation to social science on deliberative democracy and the need for ordinary citizens to avoid manipulation, deliberate, and make informed decisions as of 2019. Declining civility and interactions between elected politicians and citizens are examined, along with waning trust in democratic institutions. The displacement of facts and democracy in India are assessed, along with judgment and populism.
