Abstract

This paper highlights ideas presented through a series of American Enterprise Institute and Brookings Institution policy papers to improve the cost and/or quality of U.S. transportation. The ideas relate to: (1) the reformation of the National Environmental Policy Act to improve infrastructure project permits related to environmental protection; (2) privatizing U.S. airports; (3) the establishment of a priority list of construction projects which would be exempt from certain regulation and financed through preferential financing tools; (4) reforms with the goal of reducing the cost of transit bus purchase; and (5) providing real-time data on electric vehicle chargers to consumers.
