Abstract
We are in a period of interdependence without trust, exacerbated by the foreign policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Trump administration in the United States. However, some aspects of the international human rights and criminal justice systems are still strong and resilient parts of the international order. An updated database on transitional justice around the world (www.transitionaljusticedata.org) shows some worrisome trends but no evidence of a rupture in the human rights world order from which there is no return. People around the world continue to press vigorous demands for human rights and justice, and some international institutions and domestic governments continue to respond to these demands.
