International Panel on Fissile Materials
September 2010
Abstract
This report provides in-depth analysis of the potential and the risks of a future "nuclear renaissance" as an alternative to coal and other greenhouse gas emitting energy sources. Risks addressed in the report include the industry's high capital costs, persistent public opposition in the wake of the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl accidents, and the danger of nuclear fission materials being used to make nuclear weapons.
