Abstract
This essay first presents Jeremy Waldron’s views on dignity in general, dignity specific to old age, and their relation to suicide. In reflecting on Waldron’s views, the essay proceeds to consider the relationship between dignity, prudential rationality, and categorical desires in dealing with whether to live on in old age or commit suicide. It concludes by considering the relative desirability of achieving dignity in old age as we know it and transforming old age itself.
