Abstract
Between 1986 and 2008, the obesity rate in Massachusetts jumped from less than 10 percent to more than 20 percent. Thirty percent of the state’s children are either overweight or obese. Should public policy respond to our expanding waistlines with benign neglect, traditional taxes and regulation, or sophisticated psychology?
