CORNELIA NAUEN

Dr. Cornelia Nauen is a Senior Scientific Officer in International S&T Cooperation, in the Research Directorate General of the European Commission. She conducted Marine Research from 1973 - 1979 at the Institute of Marine Research, Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. In 1979 she received her Ph.D. in Marine Ecology/Fisheries. From 1979 - 1985, Dr. Nauen was working at the Department of Fisheries of FAO in Rome, focusing on international cooperation in relation to aquatic bio-diversity and combating marine pollution. In 1985, she joined the  Directorate General for Development of the European Commission in Brussels, responsible for fisheries cooperation with developing countries, particularly in Africa, and also for sector policy matters.

Since 1999,  Dr. Nauen has been part of the Directorate General for Research, Technology and Development of the European Commission in Brussels, responsible for joint research between the EU and developing countries, working on  sustainable development in relation to aquatic ecosystems, their living resources and related policy matters. She is also involved in inter-regional dialogue and supervision of collaborative research projects.
