Gustave M. Hauser
Among his public service activities, Gus was twice appointed by the President of the United States to serve, from 1970 through 1977, as Director-at-Large of the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation, of which he was a founder.
Gus and his wife Rita operate The Hauser Foundation, Inc. and, among their many major philanthropic projects, they have funded Hauser Hall at Harvard Law School, the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Harvard University (which became The Hauser Institute for Civil Society in 2013), and in 2012 they established the Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching (HILT) project. Gus and his wife Rita (’58) serve as Honorary Chairs of the current (2013) Harvard University Campaign.
Gus holds an AB from Western Reserve University, an LLB from Harvard Law School, an LLM from New York University Law School, and an LLM from the University of Paris, France Law Faculty.
