Cautionary note for dissertation fellowship applicants
Those applying for dissertation funding should remain attentive to whether external fellowships are categorized as "dissertation research" or "dissertation completion". Once Harvard GSAS students accept an award (internal or external) that is classified as a dissertation completion award, whether or not explicitly labeled as such, this "counts" as final-year funding, and the student becomes ineligible for any subsequent internal or external fellowships.
